Richard’s life mission is to give youth hope, direction and a sense of purpose. He joined the financial advisory profession as it afforded him the flexibility to be a youth leader in the Boys’ Brigade at his alma mata because he believes in paying it forward. He was so dedicated to his volunteer work, his wife joked that it was actually his full time job!
Two decades later, Richard continues to touch lives. As a Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) producer, he is happy that his formulae, concepts and ideas improve his clients’ financial planning throughout their life stages.
As a Senior Group Director, it warms his heart to impact his team members’ lives in the most positive ways. One of his consultants shared that having joined his team for only a year, not only was he able to achieve a decent income, he had learnt to communicate much better with his mother which brought them closer. Another consultant under his wing stood by their client at the lowest point in her life when she was divorced, retrenched and diagnosed with cancer. In addition to offering practical and emotional support, this consultant smoothened the critical illness claims submission, then advised the client to use part of the payout to buy a flat that could generate rental income to sustain her future financial needs.
Seeing his team thriving in their personal and professional lives is both humbling and immensely satisfying. His team’s success proves that we should do everything with a heart to do it well.
Richard believes it is important to have fun and laugh so heartily you are shedding tears of joy. As a father of two boys and mentor to many more young people, Richard looks forward to continue being the light that brightens another’s life.
